Mexican
Enamor speaks in a Mesoamerican Mayan language, specifically Mayan Yucatan , one of the 69 varieties of Mayan languages spoken mainly in east of Mexico. In the comics, Enamor comes from Atlantis, but in an interview with the New York Times, director Ryan Cooler has a reinvented version that names the Balkan nation and was deeply inspired by Mesoamerican cultures, specifically from Yucatán and the Maya ». Postclassic period, which caused the use of the language.

Enamor and his people come from a fictitious nation called Balkan. Although the nation is Maya in the film, it was inspired by Tlaloc, an Aztec myth. In mythology, Tlaloc was a wonderful nation of the underworld governed by the deity of the Tlaloc water and could be visited by people drowned, by a ray or by a disease associated with water.

When did Enamor debut at Marvel Comics?

Bill Everett created the character, who debuted at Marvel Comics No. 1 on August 31, 1939, by Timely Comics, a Marvel precursor. Everett came up with the name of the character writing the word Roman upside down and described it as an ancient Greek origin and from the lost kingdom of Atlantis. This incarnation of the character from Mesoamerica brings a different facet of the diverse cultures of the world to the mainstream and separates the character (which is actually greater) from his counterpart of DC, Aquaman, which also comes from Atlantis.

Enamor’s presence will surely feel in the future of the MCU, but at least you can say for sure that you know what language Enamor speaks.
